While in Victoria, I got a day to myself so I took a drive over to the other side of the island to Ucluelet, a quaint little fishing town. I haven't been there since I was about 13, so I didn't recognize anything, but had a quick wander around their aquarium, lovely little one room with touch tanks and quite a large octopus, oh and tiny little salmon minnows! They would have been delicious fried... but I digress!
On the way out of town, I was getting peckish and since it was a 4 hour drive back to Victoria, I stopped in at Jiggers, a fish and chip stand suggested by the lovely girl at the aquarium. There was quite the crowd, both of customers and ravens hoping for an unattended pile of fries. They had quite the menu, but I went for the traditional 1pc fish and chips. Yes, that picture is ONE PIECE. Talk about getting your money's worth!

The batter was nice and thin, fish was tender and moist (sorry), pretty good fries and a nice simple coleslaw. Overall, just a lovely meal on the side of the road in the summer. Had to keep an eye on the ravens, but that's just the local charm! Will definitely be going again.
