Eggs Florentine with Garlic Potatoes

I put the picture first on this one to reel you in with the gorgeousness of the whole dish. I wish I had a better camera phone on that trip, but this is going to have to suffice until I get over to Iceland again! I had the opportunity to travel Europe solo for a month last year, before this blog was created, so I will be doing some retroactive posts to share the few meals I got pictures of on this trip.

The Coocoo's Nest was a litte out-of-the-way bistro that I was recommended by a few locals. I tried this brunch (twice) and their sourdough pizza on Pizza Night. All their food and hospitality was amazing, and I will definitely be going back!

These heritage Viking chicken eggs were poached in the traditional method to perfection, silky and rich. The potatoes had great crunch on the char and the flavor went amazingly with the house-made salsa fresca. The local sourdough bread is made daily and has a great crunchy crust and a spongy core, perfect for sopping up the egg yolks.

And then, the piece de resistance, the blue cheese sauce. THIS SAUCE! I could eat a bowl of this sauce, it is so rich and complex and delightful. Cream and blue cheese, so simple and yet it adds so much to a dish. I even asked for extra sauce on my second brunch visit. It's amazing. AMAZING!

Anyone who visits Reykjavik, this little gem of a restaurant is an absolute must visit. I will be back several times on my next trip over!
