Finally, a restaurant here at home! My best friends and I were wandering Whyte Ave for some noshes and decided on Von's, as I had never been, and they assured me it was amazing. So we strolled down to the restaurant and got a great booth in the back. Our waiter was hilarious, attentive and great with the recommendations. I'm going back there just to sit in his section, and the fact that the food is damn near perfection is bonus!

Crab Shack Oysters - Baked crab meat, asiago, bacon, garlic cream sauce. These were ok, but needed something to add some zip, something fresh. Just heavy.

Tuna Tartare - Hand-chopped raw tuna, pressed avocado, ponzu sauce, wonton chips. THIS. Now, this was some of the best tuna tartare I have ever found. The sauce was a light seasoning to the fish, which was firm and fresh, and the chips were lovely. I could have eaten 5 portions of this with ease and still had a craving for more. All the flavors melded perfectly and created the dream of a mouthful I will definitely be returning to experience again. Aaaaand again.

Rib Eye with Oscar Sauce -14 oz heavily marbled and full of flavour, topped with shrimp, crab meat, asparagus, scallops, and garlic cream sauce. Side of garlic red mashed potatoes and bone marrow. This steak was one of the best I've ever found in a restaurant. The flavor was deep and rich, the meat tender and moist (sorry, again with that word). The seafood on top was perfectly cooked and very generously portioned. The marrow could have used a bit more roasting, but the mashed potatoes were great with it.

I will definitely be bringing friends and family to this restaurant, and hopefully next time I can try their extensive oyster menu. Oh! And if you go, ask to sit in Jamison's section if you want a bit more atmosphere.
